Birmingham Breadworks autumn specials and new pizza are here!

Each season brings something new to Birmingham Breadworks. And they are beating the heat by rushing fall with seasonal soup of Mexican Fiesta and seasonal sandwich, Red Mountain Monte Cristo. Other autumn specials include Powell Avenue Oatmeal, Warm Apple Chai, South Highlands Mocha, Harvest Moon Latte, and The Alabama Shake.
Today we also find new sparkling wines in cans! Stoller Swing White Bubbles and Rosé Bubbles are produced by the Stoller Wine Group, from Stoller Family Estate in Oregon. We grab a can of each and pair with Kev’s Monte Cristo and today’s new Forest Park Picnic Pizza for me. The white bubbles boast crisp notes of lemon and lime. And a rosé is just too much fun with notes of strawberry, raspberry, and lemonade. Both are 12.5 percent alcohol.
Kev’s scrumptious sandwich is a layering and melding of ham, turkey, and Swiss inside Birmingham Breadworks Magic City White Bread. Next the sandwich is dipped in egg, toasted, and dusted with powdered sugar. So pretty. And it doesn’t stop there. The Monte Cristo is served with a divine raspberry dipping sauce, and hot popcorn. Wish owner, Mike McElwain would bottle this sauce and his vinaigrette! Time flies so hurry in while it is in season.
One of the best kept secrets at Birmingham Breadworks are the daily pizzas. I could just eat this soft, golden crust and be happy. But I also love a white sauce pizza, and their rich, savory Alfredo sauce just makes this simple pizza. Its garlic parmesan flavors are made even cheesier topped with gouda. Bright bites of tomato balance it with color and acidity. And fresh rosemary releases its robust and aromatic oils with woodsy notes. Gooey yet sturdy, fulfilling, memorable, and highly recommended! I am already craving it and hope to find it on the pizza board again soon.
