Birmingham Les Dames d'Escoffier's Champagne & Fried Chicken is back! And this year, there are two ways to enjoy the event: our signature fun and easy drive-through and a full-on party at Pepper Place on 29th Street with craft cocktails, gracious table service and live music.
Either way, you'll enjoy a gourmet picnic for two featuring Southern-Fried Chicken produced on site by our own Dames headed by Kay Reed of IZ Weddings & Events and Maureen Holt of Southern Graze using a delicious gluten-free breading from Crystal Peterson and Yo' Mama's Restaurant. Our vegetarian option is a luscious tomato pie from Kay Reed of IZ Weddings & Events and Spinach & Artichoke Dip from Erin Mooney and Sara Walker of Tre Luna Catering.
Each picnic has Dame-produced sides including a Sweet Potato Salad with roasted sweet potatoes, kale, dried cranberries and currants, almonds and walnuts, shallots, lemon juice and an apple cider vinaigrette from Joy Smith of Sorelle; a fresh Field & Bean Salad with farro and cannellini beans, peppers, shallots, sun-dried tomatoes, olive tapenade, herbs, and balsamic vinaigrette on arugula by Kimberly McNair Brock of Bitty's Living Kitchen; a Fresh Pear and French Cheese Board from Kay Reed of IZ Weddings & Events (with Eastaboga Bee Co. honey and a baguette from Hinkel's Bakery); a Crudités Box with Spicy Dill Ranch from Lindsey Noto King and Feast Catering & Culinary Kitchen; and Pimento Cheese from Ashley McMakin and Ashley Mac's Kitchen. Sweets include Bronnie's Brittle from Bronnie Cox; and Homemade French Chocolate Cake from Telia Johnson Cakes.
Of course, you'll also get an icy bottle of Veuve Doussot Brut Selection Champagne all packed into a reusable market tote complete with colorful dahlias from Deborah Stone and Alex Stone Flowers of Stone Hollow Farmstead.
We'll include plates, napkins, cutlery and champagne flutes! The tote is your gift for a $175 donation.
Our drive-through will be open from 4-6 p.m. and the party will go until 7 p.m.
We will have craft cocktails by Dame-owned businesses and spirits partners: FoodBar's Nevermore with Ketel One Vodka, blackberries, lemon and rosemary; Soy y Luna's Margarita with Casamigos tequila and fresh, spicy, house-made sangrita; and Sloan's Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned with Crown Royal. We'll also have fall-flavored kombucha (fig and satsuma) from Dame Nancey Legg and Better Kombucha.
There will be additional bottles of Champagne available as well as Fire Chex Mix by Tina Liollio of Tina's Market, koulourakia cookies from Fanoula Gulas of The Greek Kouzina and mini cheese boards.
This is how we Fund the Future of Food in our state. To date, we have awarded nearly a quarter of a million dollars in grants and scholarships to women across Alabama.
