Building on Success
Abhi plans second location, in Mountain Brook.
By Jan Walsh Abhishek (Ahbi) Sainju’s Abhi Eatery and Bar is expanding to Mountain Brook. He is currently working with a local architect and contractor to redesign and build out the former Avo location in Mountain Brook Village at 2721 Cahaba Road. Both Avo and its partner restaurant, Dram Whiskey Bar closed in December, after operating in this building for many years. A spring opening is planned.
Sainju’s plans for the space include a total redesign. “We have a lot of work to do. And people will not recognize it when they see it,” Sainju describes. Plans include gutting the kitchen and adding all new appliances and a bar for craft cocktails in the back of the space. He already has a cocktail machine that mixes flavors allowing him to create new cocktail flavors at the bar.
The menu at the Mountain Brook location will also be totally new. “I am bringing back all my sushi!” Sainju exclaims. The new menu will also focus on curries and have a burger selection of turkey, lamb, and beef. “The menu will evolve and include new surprises. There will be something for everyone to enjoy.”
In addition to Abhi Eatery and Bar, Sainju is also the brain child, owner and executive chef of mo:mo: located at Pizitz Food Hall.
