Birmingham restaurants now serving alcohol on Sundays starting at 10 a.m.

The Birmingham City Council voted to allow restaurants to begin selling alcohol at 10 a.m. on Sundays.

Marco Morosini, owner of The Silvertron Cafe, helped get the ordinance passed and cited BirminghamRestaurants.com as a sample of how many restaurants currently serve brunch as a percentage of the city's restaurants and how many more might with the new ordinance. He expects an immediate increase in sales when customers can start buying mimosas during Sunday brunch at 10 a.m.

The Alabama State Legislature previously passed a bill that gave the Birmingham City Council the authority to pass an ordinance to start Sunday alcohol sales at 10 a.m. rather than noon.
